Hamilton, ON – On Thursday, local MPP Robin Lennox met with the team at the Hamilton Victoria Curling Club (HVCC) to hear more about the $16,800 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) that was used to recondition the club’s curling rocks. This project will help ensure HVCC can continue providing quality curling programs that encourage accessible activity for people of all ages, while supporting leagues, events, and community programming at the club for years to come.
“The Hamilton Victoria Curling Club is about building communities and demonstrating that recreation can be inclusive. With the repair of vital equipment, they will be able to continue this momentum. Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for your support to help make this possible,” said Robin Lennox, MPP for Hamilton Centre.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation grant supported the maintenance and reconditioning of the Hamilton Victoria Curling Club’s curling rocks. The funding allowed the Club to have its rocks professionally serviced, helping to ensure their quality, and longevity. With properly maintained equipment, HVCC can continue to offer a welcoming and enjoyable curling experience for new and experienced curlers alike.
“On behalf of our Board and members, I want to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous support of the Hamilton Victoria Curling Club,” said Club President, Hayley Hopkins. “Our curling rocks are an important part of how enjoyable the experience of curling is, and keeping them properly maintained is essential to providing a quality experience for our members and community. Thanks to OTF, we were able to invest in the maintenance and reconditioning of our rocks, helping us continue to offer accessible, affordable curling opportunities to people of all ages throughout Hamilton.”
