Youth Curling

This program has, over the years, developed quite a few accomplished curlers! The "Little Rock Program" allows kids to play with their peers while learning the strategies and skills that will develop them into seasoned young curlers. The program is designed to be an introduction to the sport for kids in an enjoyable, non-competitive atmosphere. Special full sized, half-weight rocks are used that are designed for kids of this age group. We always aim to have a high instructor to curler ration on the ice at all times. Additional activities include in-club bonspiels, closing parties, as well as the weekly scheduled drills and short games. The program also emphasises safety through the use of mandated helmets and adherence to Rowan's Law policies.

About the League

When We Play: This league plays Sundays at 1:00PM. The season typically begins at the beginning of November and will run until the beginning of March. New members are welcome to join the program up to February 1st.

Best Fit For: Youth of any skill level between the ages of 6-16. Participants will be divided into two age groups (6-10 and 11-16)

Notes from the League Convenors: Nervous about something new? We are here to help. All you need to consider before getting started is the small list of equipment you will need: All Little Rock curlers must wear a CSA approved helmet which protects the back of the head (kids under 12). Helmets designed for ice supports are recommended however, any helmet can work for curling purposes. Youth are encouraged to purchase their own grippers and sliders but we do have some at the club to provide to athletes. Comfortable, stretchy athletic pants and clean (never worn outside) sneakers
